Why We Use Stem Cells

At Warner Orthopedics & Wellness, we task ourselves in ensuring that we offer the latest in cutting-edge natural therapies. We carefully choose the procedures we offer in our clinic based on their long-term results, so we can make sure we’re only offering you the best in natural treatment options.
While there is certainly a necessity for surgeries, we also focus on regenerative therapies that help you avoid surgery if possible, including Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections, and Stem Cell Therapy.
Today, we’re going to go into more detail about what Stem Cell Therapy is and why we offer it.
What You Need To Know About Stem Cells
First, please be aware that we only use adult stem cells in our regenerative procedures. There are two types of stem cells: Multipotent cells and Pluripotent cells. Also, be aware that stem cell therapies do not always work for everyone; it is important to understand the limitations of any technology.
Multipotent cells can renew themselves by dividing and forming into other specialized types of cells within the tissue or organ that they are injected into. Multipotent cells typically can only become a certain number of different cell lines. These are effective for treating injuries and diseases, from spinal cord injuries to arthritis and autoimmune issues.
Pluripotent cells, also called master cells, also have the ability to self-renew and replicate themselves, but they can develop into any type of cell that exists in the body. These cells can grow into skin and nervous system cells (from the ectoderm layer), cells from the intestinal and respiratory tracts (from the endoderm layer), and bone, muscle, cartilage, or connective tissue (from the mesoderm layer).
For the purposes of stem cell therapy, these cells are gathered from your body tissue or processed in a lab from donated tissues and then may be injected into the site of pain or injury. These stem cells interact with the area to help regenerate damaged tissues and are meant to promote faster healing.
Adult stem cells (which are harvested from your own tissues and injected into the treatment site) are what we use in our clinic.
We never use what is known as embryonic stem cells as we believe it is unethical.
The key difference to remember between adult and embryonic stem cells is that adult cells are multipotent as they have a limited ability to differentiate while embryonic stem cells are pluripotent or totipotent as they have the ability to differentiate into any cell type.
Therefore, we only use multipotent stem cells in our therapies.
The Benefits Of Stem Cell Therapy
The main benefit of this type of therapy is that, like PRP therapy, it enables us to harness your body’s natural healing powers for a given problem instead of going with a more invasive approach such as surgery.
Stem cells are powerfully regenerative and can assist in relieving pain, inflammation, and tissue damage in joints, muscles, and more. They have great potential and are being studied all over the world due to their potential to change medicine. We use these only if indicated and after a thorough discussion of the risks, benefits, and possible outcomes.
