Why You Should Start A Yoga Practice Today

Hi, Dr. Meredith Warner here –
When I was in medical school and then in residency for orthopedic surgery I was taught nothing of yoga. We weren’t taught any nutrition or about sleep either, if that tells you anything. Holistic methods of maintaining health, such as enabling patients to make long-term lifestyle changes, are not as focused on in medical school as pharmaceutical or other invasive solutions.
There is a time and a place for surgeries and pharmaceuticals, but in my practice, we focus on non-invasive means of improving your overall well-being before resorting to such measures.
Yoga Practice Is Proven To Improve Your Health
To learn more about the benefits of yoga, I have sought out knowledge from classic texts, scientific research, experts and yogis. I practice and teach yoga myself as well.
What I can tell you from my research and personal experience is that yoga works to treat pain, reduce stress and increase wellness. Those that use yoga as a tool to improve health are very successful in doing so.

Yoga Practice At Warner Orthopedics & Wellness
I have developed a method of applying principles of yoga to specific indications. We are able to use this time-honored and very successful tradition to your benefit despite the total refusal of most surgeons to accept this as a good way to help people.
Yoga does not bring in nearly the revenue of injections or surgery; however, I believe in its powers of healing so strongly that I recommend and use yoga for my patients regardless of that fact.
This is an ethical question for me….even if I lose money and it makes it difficult to cover payroll and overhead, I feel that allowing my patients to know about yoga and to benefit from the principles of the discipline is more important.
Yoga: Holistic & Effective
There is very strong evidence to back yoga as a treatment for stress, anxiety and most musculoskeletal complaints, injuries and problems. The data is so strong that the military and VA use yoga in treatment protocols.
The evidence is so strong that most professional athletes use yoga to enhance balance, flexibility, strength, mental toughness and recovery. There is a reason that most starlets and performers engage in yoga for youthfulness and vitality.
I want you, my patients and my community, to be able to enjoy this wonderful method of treatment for your pain and problems. This is why I have partnered with Peyton Fisher Yoga Company to begin offering weekly yoga classes in our brand new wellness clinic!
